SPRING (春: haru) is the first of four seasons in Japan. It is an optimistic season of new beginnings and new life.

With the return of the warm sunshine, budding flowers and singing birds, it seems as if the earth itself wants to celebrate. And people around the world have found colourful and creative ways to celebrate spring. Many kinds of beautiful flowers also bloom during this season.

The cherry blossoms, known in Japan as Sakura, are usually only in full bloom for around one week. For many Japanese, the blooming of the cherry blossom trees symbolise human life, transience and nobleness…
